One of our favorite things about this protein powder is what they did not put into it. It is:

  • Dairy-free

  • Lactose-free
  • Gluten-free
  • Non-GMO

Orgain protein powder uses a unique blend of protein sourced from peas, chia seeds, and brown rice. The creamy chocolate fudge flavor mixes well into your favorite beverage.

Hear Our Expert's Take

Orgain’s Organic Plant Based Protein Powder contains 21 grams in each two-scoop serving. It is a vegan, soy-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO protein powder made from peas, brown rice, and chia seeds.

Containing a blend of plant-based proteins is a positive, however Orgain’s Plant Based Protein Powder also contains a creamer base. This base has multiple added ingredients including acacia gum, high oleic oil, inulin, guar gum, and xanthan gum.

These extra ingredients serve as fillers, diminishing the supplement’s quality and effectiveness. Orgain’s Plant Based Protein Powder also contains erythritol, a sugar alcohol. Frequent sugar alcohol consumption is linked to irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal upset, and abnormal flatulence, as noted in a 2016 study by Makinen.

Overall, there are other protein powders available on the market that are similar in price, or even less expensive, with higher quality ingredients. As a Registered Dietitian, I would choose a different supplement for my own needs, or when making a recommendation to my clients.
