Nature’s Bounty, one of the most trusted names in the supplement industry, offers 20 billion CFUs in their flagship Ultra Strength Probiotic.
With 10 probiotic strains, this supplement is designed to help your body’s digestive processes and immune function.
While the CFU count in this probiotic is a bit lower than some of newer competitors, that could actually be a blessing in disguise if you’re new to probiotics and want to ease into them while keeping any side effects minimal.
- Good strain diversity, with 10 probiotic strains
- Production is overseen by scientists
- Nature’s Bounty has a nearly 50-year track record
- Slightly low CFU count compared to the rest of the market, at 20 billion
Nature’s Bountry Ultra Probiotic contains 20 billion CFUs of probiotics that play an active role in your body’s digestive processes.
Each serving requires 2 capsules daily, and the manufacturer recommends taking them with a meal.
While the product does not need to be refrigerated before it’s opened, Nature’s Bounty does recommend keeping your probiotics in the refrigerator once you’ve opened the package.
Hear Our Expert's Take
Nature’s Bounty Ultra Probiotic contains 10 different probiotic strains, including nine Lactobacillus strains and one Bifidobacterium strain. Probiotics containing multiple strains of bacteria are beneficial, however an even higher quality probiotic might also contain the Streptococcus or Saccharomyces strains.
The diversity of bacterial strains in probiotics is important. The more strains a probiotic has, the more closely it represents the diversity in our gut.
This probiotic contains 20 billion CFUs at the time of manufacturing, which is less than some comparable brands. Typically, the more CFUs the better. However, for someone new to using probiotics, this may be a good place to start.
Nature’s Bounty Probiotics are formulated without lactose, gluten, sugar, artificial ingredients or preservatives. This product does, however, contain soy ingredients.
It also contains inulin, a common prebiotic fiber. Unfortunately, the ingredient list further includes dicalcium phosphate, silica, vegetable cellulose, and vegetable magnesium stearate. In my opinion, these are unnecessary fillers that diminish the quality of the product.
Nature’s Bounty Ultra Probiotic 10 is a fair product, but there are other higher quality probiotics available on the market. As a Registered Dietitian, I would prefer my clients select a different choice.
